SOKOL CHICAGOLAND
Welcome to Sokol Chicagoland! We are an independent unit of the American
Sokol Organization whose mission is to provide fitness and community for
individuals and families through physical, educational, cultural and social
programs.
We are in our 50th season of offering well-rounded gymnastics and physical
education programs. Our certified instructors and assistants are dedicated to
providing a fun and safe environment for participants of all ages and abilities.
Fall events include track and field, "Bring a Friend" week, and volleyball.
Winter events include boys/mens gymnastics skills day and rhythmic
gymnastics for girls and women. Spring brings exhibitions, calisthenic drills,
apparatus and special number competitions and the Sokol Day awards picnic
for all classes.
Sokol Chicagoland operates a nine-month program September through May
each year supporting physical and moral health, good citizenship and
responsible patriotism, combined with continuous self-improvement. Our
multi-faceted programs are designed for a lifetime. Classes begin for tots at
age 3 and extend through adulthood into senior years.
Sokol Chicagoland, along with the Central District of American Sokol, also
sponsors a G.I.J.O. artistic gymnastics team for girls who have achieved
certain skill levels. The team competes regularly at USA Gymnastics
competitions. Members of the team must also be members of classes at their
home gyms; currently participants represent four different Central District units.
